Configure Your Sending Domain

Why set up a custom domain?

Without a custom domain, your emails are sent from a generic Paymely domain. With your own domain (@yourcompany.com):

  • Your customers recognize the sender → fewer rejections
  • Better deliverability (spam filters produce fewer false positives)
  • Professional and credible brand image
  • Compliance with email authentication best practices (SPF, DKIM)

Step 1 — Access Domain Management

  1. In the sidebar, click Settings
  2. Go to the Domains tab
  3. Click Add a domain

Step 2 — Enter Your Domain

Enter your domain name without a prefix (e.g. yourcompany.com, not https://www.yourcompany.com).

Tip: You can use a dedicated subdomain like payments.yourcompany.com to separate transactional emails.

Step 3 — Add DNS Records

Paymely generates DNS records to add at your registrar. You will typically see:

TypeNameValue
TXT@ or yourcompany.comSPF record
CNAME(as shown in Paymely)DKIM record

How to add the records:

  1. Log in to your domain registrar's panel
  2. Go to the DNS Management or DNS Zone section
  3. Add each record as displayed in Paymely
  4. Save the changes

Quick guides by provider

Step 4 — Verify the Domain

After adding the DNS records, click Verify in Paymely.

DNS propagation can take from a few minutes to 48 hours. If verification fails immediately, wait 30 minutes and try again.

Health indicator: Once verified, a green ✓ indicator appears next to the domain.

Step 5 — Set as Default Domain

If you have multiple domains, set the main domain as the default domain so it is used automatically for all sends.

Troubleshooting

Verification fails after 24 hours?

  • Verify that records were copied exactly (no extra spaces)
  • Some registrars automatically append the domain to the CNAME name — copy the exact name shown in Paymely and check your registrar didn't duplicate it
  • Use a tool like MXToolbox to check your DNS records

Email landing in spam?

  • Make sure both SPF and DKIM are configured and verified
  • Avoid spam trigger words in your templates
  • Start with low send volume to build domain reputation
